Uploading to TikTok
Step by step setup of a TikTok publishing task, what happens on the phone while it runs and how to work through the usual failures
Publishing to TikTok happens on a real phone: the app opens the TikTok client, picks the clip in the gallery on its own, pastes the caption and taps publish. Your part of the job is to prepare the content, choose the devices and create the task. This article walks through the steps in the interface, the behavior on the phone and a list of typical problems with fixes.
What has to be ready before you start
- The phone is connected over USB and visible on the "Home" page.
- The Siesta input agent is installed on the device - the "Initialize agent" button in the "Quick actions" panel on the right. Without it a publishing task will not start.
- You are already signed in to the right account in the TikTok app on the phone. The app has no account manager, it does not store logins or passwords and never types them in.
- The account is warmed up and a proxy is assigned to the device.
- Clips and captions are prepared as described in preparing content for upload.
Step by step: creating the task
- Click "New publication" in the left menu.
- In the platform cards, turn on the TikTok toggle (the card is labeled "Clips / posts"). You can enable several platforms at once, and then the same clip goes to each of them.
- In the "Media" section choose "Local folder", point it at the folder with your videos or drag the files into the "Drag videos here or click to upload" zone.
- Fill in the "Captions" block: every line is a separate caption. Turn on "Delete after use" if you need it.
- In the "Publishing options" section set "Threads" (how many devices work at the same time, from 1 to 40) and "Start time": "Start now" or "Scheduled" with an interval from 1 to 72 hours.
- If you use mobile proxies with a rotation link, turn on the "Mobile proxies" toggle.
- In the "Devices" section tick the phones - the counter will show "Selected X / Y".
- If you publish through clones, turn on the toggle you need in the "Clones" section.
- Click "Start publishing". You will get "Tasks started: N" or "Tasks scheduled: N" in response.
A separate task named "Video upload" in the "Publishing" category is created for every selected device. You track them on the "Tasks" page.
What happens on the phone
Everything from here is handled by the scenario that arrives from the server the moment the task starts. Step by step it looks like this:
- The device gallery is wiped and exactly one clip from the queue is transferred to the phone.
- If mobile proxies are enabled and the device has a rotation link filled in, the IP rotation is triggered before the upload and a line like "New IP: address and country" is written to the log.
- The TikTok app is launched. The scenario reads the interface tree on screen and works from it instead of tapping blindly by coordinates: it dismisses first-run tips, confirms system requests for camera and microphone access, opens video creation and moves to the gallery.
- The uploaded clip is selected and the scenario goes through the "Next" screens.
- The caption is pasted through the clipboard by the Siesta agent, after which publish is tapped.
- The account name and the post link are captured from the screen - they end up in "Statistics".
How to check the result
- The "Tasks" page: the task status changes to "Done" or "Error", with the device, the time and the result next to it.
- The "Logs" page: a live stream per device. A successful upload produces the line "TikTok: video published", a failed one "TikTok: failed to publish" with the tail of the scenario log, which shows the step where everything stalled.
- The "Statistics" page: the publication shows up there with its account, device and link.
- The most honest check is to open the profile in TikTok itself and make sure the clip is there.
Typical problems and what to do
"Account is not signed in". The log shows "TikTok: account is not signed in". The scenario saw signs of a login or sign-up form on screen. Pick up the phone, sign in manually, make sure the feed opens, and start the task again.
The task fails immediately with a message about the agent. "The agent is not installed on the device" means you need to click "Initialize agent" in the panel on the right. If the message says the agent has not been granted accessibility access (typical for strict firmware from OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi), open the Siesta app on the phone and tap "Enable manually".
The gallery did not refresh and the scenario picked the wrong clip. The engine wipes the gallery itself and asks the system to rescan the media library, but on some firmware the gallery caches the list. What helps: clear the gallery manually with the "Clear gallery" button, close TikTok through Close All in the device card menu, and start the task again.
No access to files. If TikTok shows a system permission request the first time it opens the gallery and the scenario stops there, open the app on the phone by hand, go to video creation and grant access to photos, videos, camera and microphone once. After that the scenario will pass this screen on its own.
The app updated and changed its interface. It happens: TikTok moves buttons around and the scenario stops finding the element it needs. Scenarios live on the server and are pulled in the moment a task starts, so the fix arrives without reinstalling the client - restarting the app is enough. The most useful thing you can do is click "Report an error" on the failed task: a screenshot of the screen and the interface tree are attached automatically, and they show exactly what changed. Details are in one-click error report.
"Plan limit exceeded". The task ends with an error if the phone is outside the device limit of your plan. Disconnect the extra handsets or upgrade your subscription.
"Interrupted by an app restart". This is how tasks that were running when the program closed are marked. The execution thread does not survive a restart, so the task has to be created again.
Do not push a dozen clips in a row on a brand new account on its very first day. No amount of automation cancels the platform limits: it is smarter to start with one publication a day, spread the devices across different start times and increase the frequency gradually.
About scheduling
The "Scheduled" mode delays the start by the number of hours you choose and fires once - it is not an endless loop. If you need a constant flow of publications, create new tasks as the old ones finish. There is more on this in task scheduling.
